Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport

Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport is situated on the Zhujiajian Island. It is situated 1.2 km west of Shenjiamen and 2.5 km south of Putuoshan. From Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport to Putuoshan, you can first take a van or a taxi to Wugongshi wharf, then take a 5 minutes' speedboat to Putuoshan. After landing on Putuo Airport, the bridge across the sea can lead you to the downtown of Zhoushan city. There are regular buses or taxis directly to Dinghai or Shenjiamen from Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport. It takes about 30 minutes from the airport to the city centre.

LPS Aviation Inc. provided assistance over a six year period for development of Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport.  This new IFR airport features an 8,000 foot runway designed for B-757, MD-80, F-100 aircraft.  It serves 1.5 million people in the Zhoushan Archipelago in the East China Sea near Shanghai.  LPS provided airport planning, airspace and approach procedure planning, as well as electronic navigation equipment selection, installation and training services.  A B-737 Maintenance Base design concept was also prepared and training was provided in domestic and international ATB layout and design techniques.

Thompson Aviation Transportation Systems has been responsible for the specification, procurement, installation and test of the Putuoshan Airport systems. The air navigation systems included an ILS (Localizer, GP and Markers), NDBs, VOR/DME, VHF radios, voice recorder, PABX and PAPI systems.

There are airlines from big cities such as Beijing, Xiamen, Shanghai to Zhoushan everyday.  Zhoushan Port has opened more than 40 passenger lines including 5 rolling load lines to the mainland.
