![]()

Haiyin Pool is situated near Puji Temple and not so far from Multi-Treasure Pagoda. It's literally meaning is Lotus Flower Pool because it used to be covered with lotus flowers. It has been polluted and all the flowers disappeared. Nowadays it has been cleaned and there are already new plants growing which you can admire at the end of the summer. Haiyin Pool was created during the Ming dynasty.
It is also called the 'setting-free pool' because buddhist monks release turtles and fish in the pool. Tourists can buy little turtles and release them in the pool. The area around Haiyin Pool is a gathering place for tour groups, tai chi practitioners, and souvenir vendors.
There are three stone bridges crossing the pool, the middle one was for the emperor, the bridge in the east for nobles, and the bridge in the west for commoners. The bridge in the middle is flat en broad. In the north direction it leads to the central entrance of Puji Temple, in the south it leads to Yu Bei Ting. In the middle of the bridge stand a little octagonal pavilion. The bridge in the east is called Yong Shou Qiao (Bridge of Longlevity) and is also build in the Ming dynasty during the reign of Wan Li (1573-1620). The bridge is 6 meter high, 33.3 meter long and 7.5 meter wide. On both sides of the bridge are 20 little lions positioned in different positions. The bridge in the west is called Yao Chi Qiao.
